Artist use many different ways to make their artwork more balance. Such as line, color and shapes. For example " I Saw The Figure 5 In Gold." by Charles Demuth, defines composition. The golden 5 has a proportion that fits well with the picture. The color of red and gold creates complementary in the artwork. Meaning the colors are opposite and it makes the picture stand out from the raining grey background. This artwork by Demuth can make you feel that it's telling a little story, because of the background you'll see buildings a little bit. The little 5's make a space dept like you're looking deeper in the picture. This artwork would be considered design unity because the colors and shapes adapt very well together. In result the portrait makes a meaningful and pleasingly whole picture.
Asymmetrical balance means the left and right side of the picutre are not balance. This is a oil painting named "Paris Street, Rainy Day" by Gustave Caillebotte. On the left there's two people walking toward the picture. On the right you'll see other individuals walking to where they need to go. The reason this picture is balanced asymmetrical because a large form of object gets more attention than a small form. The colors have a soft and compassionate feel to it. The colors makes the picture correspondence, due to the big figures that gets the attention first.
Scale means the relation one thing to another. scale is the most important key to artists, because they would need to plan the size of their artwork. A sculptor named Ron Mueck is a hyper-realistic artist. In this gallery, there are many sculptures that are realistic. This work is called "Wild Man." You can see the height of this still life is statuesque. The importance of the scale is the distance and hallucination. From afar you'll believe that's an average man sitting straight, and he seems real. As you get close you'll realize that he's a little big, and the details of the person is very distinct. Artists use scale to create an illusions to the human eyes.
